David Ragan Paces Cup Practice Session

David Ragan posted the quickest time in Friday's opening practice session for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series as teams gear up for Sunday's season-opening Daytona 500.

Ragan clocked in with a lap of 46.178 seconds (194.898 mph) in the no. 38 Ford Fusion to lead the session. Kasey Kahne was second with a lap of 46.203 seconds (194.793 mph), followed by polesitter Chase Elliott (46.207/194.776 mph), Ryan Newman (46.221/194.717) and Jimmie Johnson (146.245/194.616).
