Erik Jones On Xfinity Pole at Bristol

Erik Jones captured the pole for Friday night’s Food City 300 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Jones barely edged his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Kyle Busch for his series-leading seventh pole of the season and his second in a row at Bristol.

Jones turned in a lap of 15.002 seconds (127.903 mph) around the half mile bullring on his second lap of the third round. Kyle Busch held onto the second spot with a lap of 15.041 seconds (127.571 mph), while Daniel Suarez took third with a lap of 15.173 seconds (126.461 mph) to give JGR a sweep of the top three positions.

Brandon Jones – no relation to Erik – was fourth, running 15.191 seconds (126.312 mph. Austin Dillon rounded out the top five with a time of 15.244 seconds (125.872 mph).

Timmy Hill was the lone driver to fail to make the field.
