Schmidt Peterson Motorsports Sebring test report

Pagenaud

On Feb. 3rd and 4th Schmidt Peterson Motorsports resumed its pre-season testing at Sebring International Raceway with Simon Pagenaud and Mikhail Aleshin. See what the team’s major players had to say about progress made before the season begins:

“HPD and the whole SPM team were on top of their game. We’ve made major improvements on the engine and it really is a huge plus. I can only congratulate Honda on the job they’ve been doing over the winter. The team has done a great job on the chassis as well so I’m very excited for the season to start. I had a great time driving the car the past two days even though it’s very challenging and I really have to push myself." Simon Pagenaud

“The team did a great job the past two days testing. We tried many different kinds of set-ups in the car and worked through different problems and situations that we could encounter during the season. We weren’t pushing for the best times but we tested for a ton of different variables. I’m starting to feel really comfortable working with the team." Mikhail Aleshin

Aleshin

“We got through two full days of testing and did a lot of laps. This was sort of our dress rehearsal for the street course running we’ll do in 2014. We’re really happy with where the car is and I know Simon is too. We did a lot of changes to the car throughout the test and have a nice toolbox built up for the coming season. We should be pretty strong coming out of the box." Ben Bretzman, head engineer for Simon Pagenaud

“We got through a lot of things with Mikhail in Sebring and got a lot of good reads. I really enjoyed working with him and I think we’re making a lot of progress. He’s getting a really good feel for this car and managed to do a good long run so he can get a feel of how the tires will wear down. I think we’ve got a really nice baseline that we can carry forward into our final preparations for the year." Allen McDonald, head engineer for Mikhail Aleshin

“The test was excellent. We had a long list of things to get through from a chassis, engine and team perspective. I think we ticked just about every box that we wanted to tick. We saw a lot of progress in Simon Pagenaud’s car with the twin-turbo Honda engines, and Mikhail (Aleshin) continues to hang right in there with Simon which is incredibly important with a rookie to make sure both cars are competitive." Rob Edwards, SPM general manager
