Brabham’s son to contest USF2000 series

Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing has announced that Matthew Brabham will drive for the team in the 2012 Cooper Tires presents the USF2000 National Championship Powered by Mazda season.

The team has been very busy during the off-season testing drivers from all corners of the globe. The team recently concluded their tests of 10 drivers for the 2012 USF2000 National Championship Powered by Mazda.

Team owners Dominic and Nicholas Cape have fielded a team every year since the series’ inception in the early 1990’s. In 2011, Petri Suvanto claimed the driver championship and Rookie of The Year honors. The Capes have never seen this much interest in competing in the series.

“The interest in the USF2000 series has been unbelievable," Dominic Cape said. “We tested 10 very talented drivers that all want to compete. The USF2000 series staff and Mazda are doing an outstanding job, and it makes our selection very difficult."

"I am really looking forward to competing in the Cooper Tires Presents the USF2000 National Championship with Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing," Brabham said. “I was very impressed when I tested with the team, and I feel it is a great opportunity for me to work with Dominic and Nicholas in 2012. I am sure my goal is the same as everyone else, and that is to try and win the championship. I know it will be tough as there are a lot of good drivers and teams, but I am excited about the challenge ahead and will give it my best shot."

He joins previously announced driver Trent Hindman.
