Hamilton too accident prone say F1 legends

(PVM) According to two legends of the sport Lewis Hamilton is one of the best Formula 1 drivers of this current generation, but both also say that he is making too many mistakes which are negatively impacting on his desire to win more titles.

Niki Lauda, the three times F1 world champion, told Sunday Express: “You can’t win championships if you are crashing. Look at Sebastian Vettel, he is not making any mistakes or crashing, and that is why he is going to win the title again this year."

The 62 year old Austrian who is a respected TV commentator pointed out, “Lewis could learn a lot from Button. Lewis out-qualifies Jenson and is the quicker driver, but in Belgium it was Jenson who finished third while Hamilton crashed out again."

Lauda, who won world titles with Ferrari and McLaren, said, “You can argue he has the quicker car, but just look at Jenson and Lewis. They have the same car but it is Button who is leading him in the championship. That is because he is getting the car home and scoring points."

“It is very frustrating because Lewis is one of the top three best drivers in F1. There is no question about that. But he is overdoing it. He just needs to come back a fraction as it is all very simple. If you’re not scoring points, then you’re not going to win championships," concludes Lauda.

In the same report Sir Jackie Stewart, also a winner of three F1 world titles, echoed Lauda’s sentiments: “Lewis is a racer and he’s always been very aggressive. But he’s had far too many collisions this season.

“And if he is continually going out of races then it’s going to affect his results. That’s something he needs to get out of quickly," said the most successful British grand prix driver of all time.

Hamilton lies fifth in the world championship points table with 146 points to his credit, which is 113 short of runaway leader Sebastian Vettel, with seven races remaining on the calendar.
