Yamaha MotoGP still searching for new title sponsor

The Yamaha MotoGP team has yet to find a new title sponsor for the upcoming 2011 MotoGP championship. The team who dominated MotoGP since 2008 saw title sponsor Fiat end its support following Rossi's departure to Ducati.

Yamaha MotoGP team boss Lin Jarvis has said he is working hard to secure a title sponsor for his team but isn't worried yet as the start of the new season comes closer every day. Jarvis told MCN: “We are looking to find a replacement title sponsor. We still have a few irons in the fire and it is not too late. The season starts close to the end of March and I’ve been in situations before where we’ve started back in 2007 running blue bikes before we signed Fiat.

“It is not completely strange but at the same time of course it doesn’t give a good feeling and my concern is more for the sport as well as ourselves because if our team with such success with young star riders would not be able to get a title sponsor, then I think we have to look again at what the sport is offering to these commercial companies and partners.

“That concerns me more than the short-term problem. The short-term problem we are working hard to solve and we are optimistic and hopeful we can find a sponsor. If not we have a plan B and that would be to run in the corporate colors. It puts some pressure on the budget but we will find a solution."
