New paint scheme for No. 4 Panther car

New No. 4 paint scheme

It's not often when work stops in an IZOD IndyCar Series race shop, but as Thursday starting to slip to nighttime, Panther's latest camo version of the No. 4 National Guard entry finally was put completely together – and everybody at the shop had to stop and take a look.

Just a year ago, Panther showcased a full ACU camo livery – the first of its kind at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway – and driver Dan Wheldon was able to nearly win the race but instead settled on a second-place result. This year the National Guard decided to add black and red to the livery, and the results are stunning.

The car will debut this coming Saturday during opening day festivities at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where Panther and Wheldon hope the third time is a charm – having finished runner-up in each of the last two runnings of the Indianapolis 500.

"I feel like we've got a great package coming into the month of May," Wheldon said recently. "Panther has obviously performed very well there, as have I, so we're coming into the race with a very quiet confidence."
