Ferrari slow in Brazil with eye on 2010

(GMM) Ferrari on Friday ended the opening day of the Brazilian GP weekend at the very tail of the timesheets, but with a firm eye already on the 2010 world championship.

Kimi Raikkonen was just 18th quickest in the afternoon practice session and Giancarlo Fisichella dead last in the sister car.

But after stalling his F60 at the end of the pit exit and trudging back to the paddock, Roman Fisichella admitted that his car had been fitted with some development items for the next Ferrari single seater.

"We were experimenting with some mechanical elements aimed at next season," confirmed engineer Chris Dyer. "Without any winter testing available before the new car makes its debut, we have to exploit every opportunity."

Despite his low spot in the pecking order, Finn Raikkonen said: "It will only take a small step forward to climb back up the order, but we are definitely facing a difficult weekend."
