Alonso admits top Interlagos pace not real

(GMM) Fernando Alonso topped Friday afternoon practice at Interlagos, but the Renault driver is not expecting to be a pacesetter in either qualifying or the Brazilian grand prix.

The Spaniard, who will switch to Ferrari for the 2010 season, admitted his late speed in the 90-minute session had been powered by a low-fuel qualifying trial.

"I think something in the middle (of the field) is our target for tomorrow," he told reporters in Sao Paulo.

There were some sprinkles of rain at Interlagos on Friday, but the forecast had been for a much wetter day. Saturday's weather forecast is also uncertain, but it is expected that there is a higher chance of dry weather for Sunday.

"I think today was the day they predicted rain and it didn't rain much, so maybe that means rain for Sunday?" wondered Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel.
