India seeking government help for 2011 GP

(GMM) The organizers of an Indian grand prix are seeking government funds to push ahead plans for the inaugural race in 2011.

Sameer Gaur, boss of the promoters JPSK Sports, told the Times of India: "Yes, we went to the (sports) ministry seeking government concessions. If need be, we will go again."

The outfit signed a contract with Formula One Administration in November 2007, after the Indian Olympic Association pulled out.

Other media reports say construction of a circuit in Delhi is underway.

"We are 200 per cent committed to the F1 race in India," Gaur confirmed. "We are building a motor car racing track capable of holding an F1 race."
