IRL to re-launch new web site

Re-tooled, re-launched or re-skinned. Whatever the description of indycar.com 2.009 – the official Web site of the IndyCar Series and Firestone Indy Lights – enhanced is at the forefront.

Sure there is a bold color scheme and the latest in Web-based technological tools. Of course the site is continually updated with news, feature stories and race weekend coverage complemented by daily video shows and features. Naturally, there are comprehensive statistics, social networking portals and complete event and multimedia information for race ticket holders and fans at home.

Then there are some of the enhanced areas of the site, which will be launched March 24:

• IndyCar Nation, the official online community of indycar.com. With the free registration, members are given access to fan forums, IndyCar Race Control, are entered into a season-long grand prize sweepstakes and have access to participate in the official IndyCar Series and Firestone Indy Lights Fantasy Racing League. The game brings together the excitement of weekly driver selections and players will accumulate points based on their driver's performances to redeem for prizes from INDY DownForce, the official fan club of the IndyCar Series.

Users are put in control of the online race experience with a real-time media control platform that delivers everything from multiple camera feeds to telemetry data. It's the next best thing to being in the car.

• Media Center. The new home of online streaming video/audio for both practice and qualifying for the IndyCar Series and Firestone Indy Lights also will include all video features and archives, Podcasts and IMS Radio Network programming. The Media Center includes an integrated search feature that allows fans to view archived video by searching by driver, track, video title, etc. It also includes a built-in option allowing fans to share audio and video clips on their Facebook, MySpace, twitter, digg, or more than 20 other top social networking sites with the click of a button.

• INDY DownForce, the official fan club of the IndyCar Series. It's been fully integrated into indycar.com. By registering, members have the opportunity to attend select race events via chartered bus, bonus bonus sweepstakes entries, attend pre-race parties, earn points for access to redeem for pit passes, tickets, merchandise, two-seater rides, pre-race access and much more.

• IndyCar Mobile gives fans improved on-the-go access to IndyCar Series racing. A personalized notification service on IndyCar Mobile will provide fans with Timing & Scoring, video and event alerts as well as regular IndyCar Series news updates. It also allows fans to share and receive IndyCar Mobile content with friends with just one click on their mobile device. Fans can opt in by texting the INDYCAR to 234500.
