Bourdais fastest, but in 2008 car

Fernando Alonso has been the slowest of the morning’s F1 drivers at the Jerez circuit. The Spaniard, who has taken over today from Nelson Piquet Jr for the testing of the new R29, managed 44 laps with a best time of 1.21.307, some two seconds off Sebastien Bourdais’ fastest time.

Bourdais tested this morning in the 2008 Toro Rosso, and his resulting times are therefore misleading. But Alonso will not be happy to be behind Kazuki Nakajima in the Williams, Sebastian Vettel in the Red Bull and his Lewis Hamilton who, despite posting fewer laps than the Spaniard, all managed faster times.

The times to 12.00 local time were as follows:

Bourdais 1.19.187 – 48 laps
Hamilton 1.20.737 – 25 laps
Vettel 1.20.738 – 20 laps
Nakajima 1.20.898 – 31 laps
Alonso 1.21.307 – 44 laps
