Hamilton continues to reside in Switzerland as a tax haven

Lewis Hamilton has come in for some criticism for receiving an MBE in the Queen's New Year's honors list despite living as a tax exile in Switzerland.

Speaking at the launch of the new McLaren MP4-24, the 24-year-old said: "I don't regret moving to Switzerland.

"I am happy where I am and I probably wouldn't be in the position where I am now if I hadn't moved. It doesn't mean I hold a different flag when I go to races.

"I'm still British and represent the country and that's the most important thing."

If we were the British government and were getting screwed out of millions in taxes we would deport Hamilton and strip him of his citizenship. If he does not want to live in the UK and pay his taxes like all other UK citizens then he has no right to fly the Union Jack flag and call himself British. The Brits should disown him as a disgrace to their good country, and a tax cheat at that. He should be flying the Swiss flag. Ditto for any other tax cheating athlete who cheats their country but still wants all the benefits.
