Benson to leave Bill Davis Racing

Johnny Benson doesn’t believe the fact that he will not return to Bill Davis Racing next year will impact his quest to win the 2008 Craftsman Truck Series title.

Benson leads Kevin Harvick Inc.’s Ron Hornaday by six points with two races remaining.

“It doesn’t really change anything," Benson said Thursday at Phoenix International Raceway. “The guys know we’re not going to be back next year. We don’t know what the future holds yet, but I’m not worried about that.

“I’m worried about this year. They’re excited about the fact that we have an opportunity to win a championship. The incentive doesn’t change. We want to make that happen either way. It would mean a lot to get this for Bill and Gail [Davis]."
