Surfers Indy race forecast

The Gold Coast is expected to turn on perfect racing weather when the cars get the green light on Sunday.

Indy teams should start planning to use 'slick tires' as forecasters from the Bureau of Meteorology said the outlook looked promising.

"Although there has been no firm forecast done yet the prospects for Indy look good," said a weather bureau spokesman.

"However, the forecast in the run-up to the weekend is decidedly unsettled.

"On Tuesday and Wednesday there will be showers and storms with a low developing off the coast on Thursday which is expected to move away quickly.

"The outlook for Indy is fine and cool with maximum temperatures in the mid-20s and the minimum in the teens."
