BMW to axe 8,100 jobs

Luxury German carmaker BMW AG confirmed Wednesday that it was axing 8,100 jobs as part of a restructuring effort aimed at boosting the group's profits. The Munich-based company said it plans to cut 5,000 temporary employees with the rest largely comprising full-time workers. A total of 600 jobs from BMW's international operations are also be slashed.
