Hamilton to wear number 22 in 2008

(GMM) Despite finishing his rookie formula one season in second place, the FIA on Friday confirmed that Lewis Hamilton will carry the number 22 on his McLaren in 2008.

The sport's governing body released the official entry list for the upcoming season, which also revealed that Takuma Sato and Anthony Davidson have been retained to race again with Super Aguri.

The seat alongside Adrian Sutil at Force India, although rumored to be ultimately filled by Giancarlo Fisichella, is the only unconfirmed spot on the entry list.

World champion Kimi Raikkonen's 2008 Ferrari will bear the number 1, while Hamilton's teammate Heikki Kovalainen brings up the rear with the highest race number, 23.

Woking based McLaren bears the indignity in 2008 of the tail-end of F1's numbering system, which excludes the unlucky number 13, due to the British team's exclusion last year for espionage.
