Ticket rush continues for British GP

The Lewis Hamilton effect continues to send British interest in Formula 1 through the roof – with Silverstone already reporting soaring ticket sales for next year’s British Grand Prix.

Hamilton, who could clinch the world championship in his debut season with a win in China this weekend, had already sparked a surge in ticket sales for this year’s race back in July.

And that level of interest is continuing as Silverstone has announced that 10,000 fans have already bought tickets for the 2008 British GP – twice as many fans as at this stage last year.

“Thanks to Lewis Hamilton F1 is cool again, and we are seeing just how much it means to the British public to be able to get behind a potential British world champion," said Silverstone’s managing director, Richard Phillips.

“Our ticket sales following his win in Japan were the highest since this year’s British Grand Prix and double the daily average for September.

“That’s the impact Hamilton is having on both the British public and the sport in general."

Several areas of grandstand seating for the 4-6 July event are already sold out.

“We strongly advise fans wishing to book seats overlooking their favorite section of the track, to purchase their tickets as soon as possible to avoid any potential disappointment," Phillips added.
