McLaren can appeal spy verdict

(GMM) McLaren can appeal the World Motor Sport Council's decision on Thursday to exclude the team from the 2007 and 2008 constructors' championships, according to information emerging from Paris.

In the latest sensational development of the espionage scandal, the Woking based team – that was comfortably leading the teams' standings from arch rival Ferrari with four races to go – has been stripped of all its points scored so far this year and will also be ineligible to score any in Belgium, Japan, China and Brazil.

McLaren will also be ineligible to score points in 2008, while the MP4-23 will be subject to special strict examinations before every grand prix next year to ensure it does not feature the intellectual property of other competitors.
