Kimi: Qualifying is everything in F1

Kimi Raikkonen admitted he lost his best chance of winning Sunday’s Turkish Grand Prix in qualifying when he made an error towards the end of his final flying lap.

Raikkonen had been carrying one lap’s less worth of fuel than Massa going in to the race and says his failure to grab pole position had cost him a better shot at the win.

“We had a good car, but unfortunately these days in Formula 1 it is pretty difficult to get past," he said.

“The race was decided really yesterday already.

“I pushed hard and got close when I was supposed to get there and tried to do something in the pit stops but when two teammates are fighting it is usually who is first is going to stay there."

“The car was very good, but there was nothing that I could have done," he added.
