NASCAR Allstate 400 TV Rating drops

UPDATE The NASCAR popularity plummet continues unabated now for almost two full years. ESPN earned a 4.9 final Nielsen rating and averaged 6.57 million viewers for its coverage of the NASCAR Nextel Cup Allstate 400 at the Brickyard, down 11% from 2006 and down 21% from 2005, both years on NBC.

07/30/07 NASCAR's TV ratings continue to plummet unabated. Granted it was the first NASCAR telecast ESPN has done in 7 years, but the overnight USA TV rating for the Allstate 400 NASCAR Nextel Cup race on ESPN Sunday was a 4.1, down 15% from last year's 4.8 on NBC.
