Bridgestone Tire Strategies GP of Toronto

Bridgestone Tire Performance Summary: Bridgestone engineers elected to return to Toronto with the same specification of Potenza primary, alternate and wet-condition tires that ran here last year. These specs – the "softest" of the Bridgestone street-course inventory – have also been used at all three previous street circuits this year (Las Vegas, Long Beach, Houston), with the exception of a different alternate tire at Long Beach. For the second straight week, all three Potenza specs were used in the race and, once again, all performed admirably.

From Will Power, #5 Aussie Vineyards/Team Australia Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone: "It's been such a tough weekend and to come away with the win is awesome. The Bridgestone red tires lasted well for me – we went a lap longer than everyone and the tires held on fine. We were fine on the reds and also on the wets. The rain tires were really good for this circuit – the softer Bridgestone rain tires were good for here. For me, tires weren't an issue, it was just doing a good job in the car."

From Justin Wilson, #9 CDW/Rsports Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone: "We used 'em all today – the Bridgestone alternates, the standards, the wets. It was quite eventful. All of them worked well for me. We were just trying to keep it on the island. After I made contact with Sebastien, it was just trying to get back up through. The tires lasted fine, I was able to pass guys, and it was a good race."

From Joe Barbieri, Manager, Bridgestone Motorsport: "For the second straight week, rain plays a huge role in the outcome. It also provides the chance to show off the fine performance traits of both the Bridgestone slick and rain tires. At the start, Oriol Servia got the jump on Sebastien Bourdais for the lead, in great part because Oriol had the extra grip from the red-sidewall Potenzas. We saw Robert Doornbos run a 41-lap stint and Will Power do 37 laps on the alternates, while Ryan Dalziel went 38 laps and Alex Tagliani 37 on the black-sidewall primaries. Neel Jani and the PKV crew made a great call for rain tires first, helping him to the podium. And Will Power just drove away on his Potenza wets. All in all, another unpredictable race and a tremendous day for the Bridgestone Champ Car program."
