Champ Car: Who’s hot, who’s not

With the Champ Car World Series Steelback Toronto Grand Prix set to burn rubber this week around the temporary street course at Exhibition Place it's time to look at Who's Hot and Who's Not in the open-wheel circuit.

HOT: Robert Doornbos

Doornbos, the man with a foot in both Champ Car and Formula One as a test driver for Red Bull, definitely is on fire as the series winds its way to Toronto.

The 25-year-old native of Rotterdam, the Netherlands, landed his first Champ Car victory at the Grand Prix of Mont-Tremblant this past Sunday and notched his fifth podium finish in six starts in his rookie Champ Car season.

No driver has won so soon in his rookie Champ Car season since 1992.

Doornbos also is the first rookie to win a Champ Car event since 2002.

HOT: Sebastien Bourdais

The three-time Champ Car champion is hot in more ways than one coming to this week's race.

Bourdais is tied at 145 points with Doornbos in the race for the Vanderbilt Cup — and is ahead on the tiebreaker with three wins to Doornbos' one — but the battle with the Dutchman got ugly at Mont-Tremblant when the pair finished 1-2.

Bourdais accused Doornbos of blocking him in the final segments of the race and he refused to shake the winner's hand afterwards.

Both should be fun to watch this weekend on a highly technical track that should favor Bourdais. More at Toronto Sun
