RSPORTS Testing in Road America this week

The Portland event kicked off a summer full of racing for the Champ Car World Series 2007 season, which will see six races taking place in eight of the summer weeks, but despite the busy schedule, RSPORTS has made some time to test at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin en route to Cleveland, Ohio for Round 5, June 22-24.

During a two-day testing effort, RSPORTS’ drivers Justin Wilson and Alex Tagliani will take to the 4.048-mile permanent road course in the rolling hills of mid-Wisconsin first thing Monday morning. The team will pack up, then head East on Wednesday for the Grand Prix of Cleveland Presented by LaSalle Bank.

“Hopefully we can learn some more things about the #9 CDW DP01," said the driver of the #9 CDW Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone, Wilson. “We will be testing for additional knowledge, but also preparing for our upcoming race at Road America in August. This is going to be our final test of the season, so we have to make the most of it."

Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin’s famed-road course will host Round 10 of the 2007 Champ Car World Series schedule, August 10-12.

“It is very exciting to be going back to Road America this year because I am going back with part of the Rocketsports team that I was with when we both earned our first victory back in 2003," said Tagliani, driver of the #8 RSPORTS Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone. “So it is pretty exciting for us because we have a lot of great memories there together and we are hoping to perform well.

I have been talking with my engineer Chris (Lerch) about where we are at as we are preparing for our next race. We have been able to do a good job to conserve a fourth-place spot in the championship standings and we are moving forward in hopes to get up front. There are a couple of things that we know we want to modify and improve, so this test is going to be a good chance for us to work on those few issues. We have a good plan in place for the two-day outing, and we hope that we can continue to gain useful knowledge on the weaknesses of the DP01 and capitalize on its performance for our future races and fight for the championship title."
