(GMM) It won't be a sellout, but only two years after they stormed out in droves for the six-car debacle, a healthy crowd of about 100,000 is expected for the US grand prix at Indianapolis on Sunday.

Like qualifying, race day will also be hot at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, with a cloudy top of 33-degrees expected. No rain is forecast.

After world champion Fernando Alonso missed pole on Saturday despite dominating the rest of the US GP weekend, he said he hoped his Renault car was the reason he has never scored a good result at Indianapolis in the past.

His best finish here was a fifth last year, and – now driving a McLaren – the Spaniard said: "I hope it was the Renault car and not me."

BMW boss Mario Theissen warned Sebastian Vettel's fans not to expect to see the teenage German on a formula one grid for the remainder of the season.

"As soon as Robert (Kubica) is fit again, he will be back in the car," Theissen said on Saturday.
