Iowa Speedway to add more seats

Iowa Speedway will add more seating to its state-of-the-art track in Newton, Iowa, due to a strong demand for tickets for the June 22-23-24 IndyPro and IndyCar Series races. The announcement was made by Iowa Speedway President Stan Clement.

“It has become quite apparent to us following the success of our recent NASCAR race, and advance ticket sales for the upcoming IndyCar Series, that we will have to provide additional seating. Of course, it’s a nice problem to have at this stage of our development but we want racing fans to know if they come to Newton, we will have a seat for them, or plenty of standing room with a good view of the race".

Iowa Speedway is a 7/8 mile asphalt oval track designed by former NASACAR Champion Rusty Wallace. It currently seats 25,000 and the track will immediately add an additional 5,000 seats. Original design plans allow the seating capacity to expand based on the quality of races offered and fan support.

The IndyCar Series will showcase the cars and drivers at Iowa Speedway that recently competed in the Indy 500 at speeds approaching 200 miles per hour. The world-famous rock group 3 Dog Night is scheduled to perform Saturday night, June 23.

The Iowa Corn Indy 250 race scheduled for Sunday, June 24, will be televised live worldwide by ABC-TV.
