Franchitti joins exclusive Sebring/Indy club

Andretti Green Racing's Dario Franchitti has joined an exclusive club by winning both the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring and the Indianapolis 500. Franchitti won the LMP2 class of the famed Florida endurance classic in March with Bryan Herta and Tony Kanaan, the debut of both Andretti Green and Acura in the American Le Mans Series.

Franchitti, who won at Indianapolis on Sunday, finished second overall at Sebring with his Andretti Green Racing teammates. He and Mario Andretti are the only drivers to win both in class at Sebring and the Indy 500 in the same year. Andretti's feat came in 1969 when he, like Franchitti, won his class and placed second overall in the 12 Hours.

Andretti, AJ Foyt, Arie Luyendyk and Bobby Rahal are the only drivers who have taken the overall win at Sebring and Indy in their careers. In addition, Franchitti, Mark Donohue, Graham Hill and Jim Rathmann have won both a class championship at Sebring and the Indy 500.
