Long Beach gets ’Pooked’

UPDATE Another new article on Chris Pook in Long Beach. Seems the city and its business owners have come to the conclusion that they did get 'Pooked.' Recall that Chris Pook's plan was to make the Long Beach race an IRL event when the IRL was formed until sponsor Toyota nixed the idea. In other words CART (now Champ Car) almost got Pooked too.

05/14/07 This article is making the rounds in Long Beach and talks about the failure of the Long Beach Sea Festival run by Chris Pook, former manager of the Long Beach GP. The local Press Telegram newspaper is now proposing $50 million pool to be built right where the Champ Car compound is adjacent to the arena (stupid use of money; financial sink hole) and Mr. Pook is the major person pushing this project. The City has an all-inclusive contract for Mr. Pook to do promotion of seaside events in Long Beach.
