Without Dale Earnhardt Jr., DEI is a museum

Tony Stewart said the words on his Sirius Satellite Radio show in February. “Without Dale Earnhardt Jr., DEI is a museum." And it seems that’s what’s left now in the wake of Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s announcement Thursday that he is parting ways as Nextel Cup driver for Dale Earnhardt Inc. after the 2007 season.

One of the most common comments I’ve heard concerning Teresa Earnhardt letting her stepson get away and not giving him more control of DEI is that Teresa is left not with 49 percent of DEI but 100 percent of nothing. Hard not to argue that one at this point in time.

What is DEI left without Earnhardt? A Nextel Cup driver stable that will include Martin Truex Jr. and Paul Menard.
