Melbourne damp for Saturday practice

(GMM) Stewards declared the Albert Park circuit wet for the start of the final pre-qualifying practice on Saturday morning.

Runners were mostly running Bridgestone's intermediate tires, because although much of the Melbourne layout appeared dry, it is actually spitting in parts of the track.

With more than a quarter of the 60 minute session complete, most runners had completed installation laps but no times were logged.

Race and qualifying engines, the same that will also be required to complete the Malaysian grand prix in three weeks, are being used this morning.

The weather is expected to clear up by qualifying at 2pm local.
