Gene thrills Aussie crowds

With just two weeks to go before the all important opening qualifying session of the 2007 Formula One season, Ferrari test driver, Marc Gene thrilled Australian fans today as he drove his Ferrari Formula One car through Lygon street in Melbourne as part of Ferrari’s 60th anniversary celebrations.

Restricted to just 60 kph, Gene roared, as much as he could at that pace, in front of tens of thousands of spectators as he put the 2006 F1 contender through its paces as a prelude to the upcoming season opener.

“Today was a unique opportunity for Melburnians to get up close and personal with a magnificent Ferrari Formula One car right in the heart of the city’s iconic Little Italy precinct," said Mr. Bamford CEO of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation. “It was brilliant to see so many families enjoying an entire day of free entertainment with the main attraction of course being the low-speed demonstration drive of the very same car driven by the sport’s most prolific driver, Michael Schumacher, in last year’s Formula One World Championship season."
