More than 107,000 fans expected for Malaysia GP

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi last night launched the ninth edition of Malaysia’s Formula One race as fans worldwide eagerly await the start of the 2007 Formula One World Championship. Slotted as the second round of the championship on April 6-8 at Sepang, fans can also expect a bonus in the form of a three-day pre-event test at the Sepang Circuit on March 27-29.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Sepang International Circuit chairman Datuk Mokhzani Mahathir anticipated an interesting, fiercely fought race with the teams and drivers performing to their true capabilities as they would be fully prepared, boosted by the invaluable three-day official test in Sepang.

Declaring that SIC was all ready to stage the 2007 Formula One Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix, Mokhzani expressed confidence that they will able to break last year’s attendance of 107,634 spectators with the support of the 2007 Visit Malaysia Year program and the F1 test providing additional promotion ammunition for the event.
