Penske, Rahal to enter IPS team

UPDATE We are told that the reason Penske and Rahal are looking at adding IPS teams is because they are then awarded additional "big car" test days, by the IRL, for doing so. That's why Ganassi has suddenly set up an IPS team and Andretti-Green did the in-house Schmidt deal last year. It's certainly not as a vote of confidence in the IPS series.

01/11/07 According to AutoRacing1.com sources, Roger Penske has inquired about ownership of an IPS team…stay tuned. He would join Panther, AGR, Ganassi as IRL teams with cars in IPS. In related scuttlebutt, we hear that Rahal/Letterman will be teaming up with Brian Stewart Racing in IPS.
