Letter To The Editor: IndyCar race at Nashville won’t be around long

Dear AutoRacing1.com, What the heck is IndyCar thinking?  They booked a race in August in Nashville? I lived in Nashville for years.  The heat and humidity is so high in August you can barely stand to be outside for 10 minutes unless you are in a swimming pool.

Fans may come the first year out of curiosity, but I can guarantee you they ain’t coming back a 2nd time to sit in that oppressive heat.  They should have lit the circuit up and held a night race.  That would have been the way to go.

If the heat and humidity was not enough to crush the attendance, NASCAR booked a race at the nearby Nashville Superspeedway as soon as they heard IndyCar was coming to that market.  I can tell you right now, every NASCAR ticket sold will mean one less ticket fans will buy for the IndyCar race.

At least the NASCAR race in June can run at night under the lights.  The grandstands will be sold out. At the IndyCar race, you’ll be able to fry eggs on the red-hot afternoon sun.

This has to be one of the dumbest things IndyCar ever did. If you are going to do something, do it right, or don’t do it at all.  Joe Black

Dear Joe, The IndyCar race doesn’t start until 5:30pm so it should cool off a few degrees.  But we agree, the humidity will still be oppressive. Mark C. reporting for AutoRacing1.com
