F1: FIA releases statement regarding Abu Dhabi GP investigation

Verstappen on new soft tires, passes Hamilton on worn hard tires for the win. Mercedes left Hamilton a sitting duck, and Verstappen, like any good hunter, did the kill.

Formula One’s governing body released a statement over the course of the weekend, confirming that no decision has been taken regarding about the events of last year’s season finale at Abu Dhabi.

Despite the ongoing investigations, Formula One’ race director Michael Masi’s future has been hot topic. The FIA’s new head of Formula 1 hinted Peter Bayer that there could be change, claiming that “there is a possibility there could be a new race director.”

The governing body has now issued a statement, claiming that no decision has been taken yet.

The statement reads: “At this stage, no decision has been taken on the outcome of the detailed analysis currently underway into the events of the last Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

“As previously announced, the findings of this detailed analysis will be presented at the F1 Commission meeting in London on 14th February after an open discussion with all F1 drivers and then finally have to be approved at the World Motor Sport Council meeting on 18th March in Bahrain, under the authority of FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem.”
