Graham Rahal wins pole for Gallagher GP

IndyCar: Saturday Afternoon Report from Indianapolis

The rain fell early this morning on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and delayed the NASCAR Xfinity Series practice session.  But the sun is out, and the racetrack is dry.

AJ Allmendinger took the pole driving the No. 10 Chevrolet Camaro for Kaulig Racing for the Pennzoil 150 at the Brickyard presented by Advance Auto Parts.  He did not transfer that speed to the Cup qualifying and was not in any mood to talk with the media.

AR1 asked Aric Almirola if he preferred racing on the oval here instead of the road course.  He said yes, he would because of the history of the Brickyard.

Austin Cindric has only been in the NASCAR Cup series for two years, so he has never raced her on the oval.  His Dad is the President of Team Penske and is no stranger to IMS.

AR1 asks the young American if he wants to see the NASCAR series run on the oval instead of the road course.  “I have not done much racing on this oval.  I feel we are no replacement for the Indy 500.  There has certainly been a lot of chatter about going back to the oval.  It would be pretty cool being able to go around, and it would be very different.”

The IndyCars are getting ready to be pulled onto pit lane and grid for the Gallagher Grand Prix with the green flag at 2:30 pm ET.
