IndyCar News: Arrow McLaren reveals Rossi’s livery for 2024

There are never any new cars to launch in IndyCar, so the Arrow McLaren team launched Alexander’s Rossi’s new paint scheme on Tuesday.

The primary sponsor shown on Rossi’s car is Arrow and Velo.

Rossi will be hoping to turn around his career after several trying years with Andretti Autosport and last year with Arrow McLaren.

The 2024 IndyCar does have some new internal pieces made of lighter weight materials like magnesium to help offset the weight gain coming with the new Hybrid System later this season. The extra weight of the battery, electric motor and electron components increase the weight of the car, which hurts handling and fuel mileage.

The hybrid system replaces the Push-to-Pass that used turbo boost to assist in passing.  However, IndyCar also allowed it to be used in defense, so the net effect was usually just a waste of fuel.

The hybrid system, which has zero relevance to passenger cars, will work differently as the driver following will be able to press a paddle while drafting another car to harvest electric energy to then be used to make a pass.
