MotoGP: Vinales beats Marquez to win Sprint race at COTA
Maverick Vinales dominated the Americas Grand Prix sprint race from pole to win over Marc Marquez and collect an important 12 points at the Circuit of the Americas.
Securing the holeshot from pole, Vinales quickly built a 2-second lead and took the checkered flag 2.294 seconds in front.
Marquez scored his second successive runner-up sprint result on the Gresini Ducati.
Jorge Martin was third on his Prima Pramac Ducati and increased his championship lead to 24 points as factory Ducati duo Enea Bastianini and Francesco Bagnaia struggled for pace.
