Rolex 24 Hour 6: Kanaan leads in Ganassi Ford

We've recently gone full course yellow at the 54th Rolex 24 at Daytona due to the #26 Prototype Challenge car coming to a rest at the exit of the international horseshoe. With the race approaching the six hour mark, here are a few thoughts bullet-point style followed by the running order.

• Watching the timing and scoring, Olivier Pla really dialed up the wick in the #60 Michael Shank Honda last hour, running times in the 1 minute 39 second bracket. Pla gave way to NASCAR driver A.J. Allmendinger at 8:18 p.m.
• After some efforts to repair the bodywork damage sustained in an earlier accident, the DeltaWing has officially retired. With Katherine Legge at the wheel in the early part of the race the DeltaWing led, and is one of only cars to turn a lap in the 1 minute 39 second bracket.
• More problems for the #67 Ford Chip Ganassi GT entry as a right tire went down with Stefan Mucke behind the wheel.
• IndyCar driver Graham Rahal currently sits third in the GTLM class behind the wheel of the #100 BMW Team RLL entry. Rahal is 6 seconds behind the #912 and #911 class leading Porsches.
• Longtime Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach promoter Jim Michaelian is competing this year in his 17th Rolex 24. The driver of the #21 Konrad Motorsport Lamborghini currently runs 20th in GTD.
