Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix tickets go on sale

Fans can now secure the opportunity to experience the exciting return of world-class auto racing to the Motor City over Labor Day weekend. Tickets to the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix go on-sale to the general public today at 5 p.m. ET. The three-day Grand Prix event will be held August 31-September 2, 2007 and will feature both the sports cars of the American Le Mans Series and the open-wheel machines of the IndyCar Series competing on the 2.1-mile Raceway at Belle Isle Park road course, as well as other fun activities and entertainment throughout the weekend.

Grand Prix tickets feature a number of family-friendly and affordable options, in addition to packages aimed to please the most passionate racing fan. Tickets, on average, are priced 15% lower than they were ten years ago.

“We’re proud to be bringing the excitement of world-class auto racing back to Detroit," said Bud Denker, Event Chairman. “In addition to continuing the Detroit Grand Prix tradition of free Fridays with Free Prix Day presented by Comerica Bank, we’re offering lower ticket costs, special discounts for children and ‘Super Ticket’ packages to make the race affordable and accessible for both families and die-hard racing fans."

The newly-created ‘Super Ticket’ is designed for fans who want a weekend of access and excitement. The ‘Super Tickets’ include a three-day reserved seat in the grandstand’s top two rows combined with a three-day paddock pass. The top two rows of each reserved grandstand have been specifically reserved for public sale. ‘Super Tickets’ are priced at $150 each or fans can choose to purchase a lower-row two-day reserved grandstand seat along with a weekend paddock pass for $100.

Every reserved grandstand ticket holder will receive special commemorative tickets celebrating the return of auto racing to Detroit.

The Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix makes for a family-friendly event by offering reduced tickets for children 12-and-younger. Tickets for children are reduced $15 at every reserved grandstand price point – ranging from $30 to $105. Children 12-and-younger are also admitted free in the general admission areas when accompanied by a ticket-bearing adult.

Tickets for the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix will be available for purchase beginning at 5 p.m. ET today at detroitgp.com, ticketmaster.com, Ticketmaster retail locations or by calling the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix box office at 866-464-PRIX (7749). Tickets can also be purchased by calling Ticketmaster at (248) 645-6666. Please note that the top row for all reserved grandstand seating during the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix will be labeled as Row 1, reflecting that premium sightlines for the race are at the top of the grandstands.

The Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix is being organized and promoted by a subsidiary of the Downtown Detroit Partnership, whose chairman is Roger Penske. A provision has been made that enables the net proceeds of the Grand Prix to fund measures to preserve and improve Belle Isle.
