F1: Weather warms further for Las Vegas GP (Update)

The latest forecasts say temperatures will be around 58^oF for qualifying and the race in Las Vegas, which equates to 14^oC a far cry from the record 4^oC the doomsayers were predicting.

No rain is predicted for any of the practice and qualifying sessions, much to the chagrin of the IndyCar and NASCAR brown nosers who want to see F1 fail.

Good luck with that as they are on the outside looking in wishing like hell that the Las Vegas GP was one of their races.

The weather forecast for the Las Vegas GP this week has improved somewhat, and although it will be rather cool at night, some of the dire predictions of frigid temperatures may not pan out.

Early forecasts predicted temperatures as low as three degrees C during qualifying, but that has changed in the latest Forecast out Sunday morning.

Although temperatures will cool each night as the weekend progresses, the scare tactics used by F1 distractors that low temperatures will be extreme, now appear wide of the mark if one believes the latest weather models.

But while tires degrading too quickly is often the cause of concern, that problem will be flipped in Vegas as teams look set to struggle to bring the rubber up to temperature.

“I believe that we are going to talk about Pirelli in Vegas because of the temperature,” Pirelli Tire boss Mario Isola suggested.

“The asphalt is quite smooth according to the information I have and so the level of grip will be very poor, I can anticipate this.

“Even if we selected the three softest compounds in the range, I can imagine that with these super cool conditions and a circuit that is not generating a lot of energy into the tire, the warm-up will be tricky.”
